Switchboard halts Aptos, Sui, IOTA, and Movement operations

Aptos (APT) Editor: Eugene Serbin

cryptobriefing.com reports that Switchboard halted operations on Aptos, Sui, IOTA, and Movement after detecting a potential security compromise. The incident began when an attacker exploited a compromised oracle key on IOTA to set the token's price to $10 million. This manipulation allowed the attacker to mint nearly 5 million VUSD through the Virtue CDP protocol.

The event triggered liquidations for 45 users and led to the freezing of exchange addresses. Switchboard shut down its Move-based deployments, which underpin the affected networks, during the transition from August 28 to 29. The protocol noted that its Solana deployment remained unaffected due to different code infrastructure.

Switchboard is collaborating with security agencies to investigate the breach. User funds appear intact outside of the specific IOTA incident, though the assessment may evolve.
