Nexo opens Buenos Aires hub to target Latin American stablecoin users
Traders Union reports that Nexo has established Buenos Aires as its new Latin America hub. Andrés Ondarra, Nexo’s General Manager in Argentina, explained the strategic choice to DefiLlama Research. The decision relies on Argentina’s mature stablecoin user base and high transaction volume.
Data indicates approximately 8.6 million crypto users existed in the country in 2024. Stablecoins account for the majority of local crypto transactions, driving Nexo’s local product development. The company acquired Buenbit to meet regulatory requirements and enter the market.
Nexo launched digital-dollar rails and a stablecoin-based savings account to adapt to local needs. Buenos Aires will serve as a launchpad for expansion into Peru and Mexico. Nexo offers integrated services including custody, exchange, and crypto-backed lending. The platform also features an integrated wallet and a crypto-secured card.
