Nexo survey finds affluent crypto owners lack deep wealth integration

Nexo (NEXO) Editor: Eugene Serbin

cvj.ai reports that Nexo’s September 23 survey of affluent investors reveals 67% in the US, UK, and Argentina own cryptocurrency, yet few integrate it deeply into long-term wealth strategies. The Crypto Integration Index scores this adoption at an average of 4.83 out of 10, indicating crypto remains a small, short-horizon position for most. Only 4.7% of investors achieved a score of seven or higher, a level Nexo defines as structurally integrated where digital assets replace traditional holdings.

While 90% of investors aged 18 to 25 hold crypto, only 2% maintain a ten-year horizon, whereas those aged 35 to 44 show deeper integration with 28% treating it as a core retirement asset. Security concerns, high fees, and platform complexity are cited as the primary barriers preventing owners from building wealth with their holdings. Argentina recorded the highest ownership rate at 74% but a lower integration score of 4.62, while the US showed the lowest ownership at 62% but the deepest integration with a score of 5.07.

Neil Steinhardt, COO of Nexo US, stated that once risk perception is managed, the remaining gap lies in security, fees, and platform capabilities. Iliya Kalchev, an analyst at Nexo, noted that risk perception no longer divides investors; rather, the ability to substitute crypto for traditional assets and fold it into retirement planning is the key differentiator.
