DeFi Development Corp Adds 55,491 SOL to Treasury

Solana (SOL) Editor: Eugene Serbin

finance.yahoo.com reports that DeFi Development Corp has increased its Solana holdings by 55,491 SOL. The company now holds approximately 2.39 million SOL and SOL equivalents, making it the second-largest public-company holder after Forward Industries. This growth represents a roughly 2% increase since August 27, following a pause in purchases that resumed in late August.

Alongside the treasury expansion, the company established a $300 million at-the-market offering for its CHAD perpetual preferred stock. The Variable Rate Series C Perpetual Preferred Stock carries an initial annual dividend rate of 13% and is expected to fund additional SOL purchases. CEO Joseph Onorati stated that the company is growing its SOL treasury and generating organic yield.

He noted that DFDV is returning twice as much as SOL quarter-to-date. The treasury expansion coincides with growing institutional interest, including Bitwise's Solana ETF surpassing $1 billion in assets. At the time of writing, Solana trades around $101, up 35% over the past month. DFDV shares trade at $5.16, up 1.5% today but down 3.56% year-to-date.

Solana is currently trading at $99.30 on Binance spot markets. The 1-hour buy ratio stands at 50.0%, while the 4-hour ratio is 50.3%, indicating balanced short-term activity. However, the 24-hour buy ratio drops to 46.2%, suggesting a shift toward selling pressure over the longer timeframe. Volume Delta reflects this divergence, showing a positive $5,422 in the last hour and $257,780 over four hours, but a significant negative -$10,342,535 over 24 hours. This means that while recent buying is emerging, cumulative selling has outweighed buying over the full day. The Cumulative Volume Delta for the 24-hour close is -$3,026,364, confirming net outflows. Net buying occurred for only 13 of the last 24 hours, with total spot volume reaching $139,109,069 across 515,033 trades.

The latest daily buy ratio of 48.8% sits at the 27th percentile of the last 322 days, against a median of 50.0% - weaker buying than most days.

Comparing today's activity to the preceding week reveals a consistent trend of net selling. The 7-day average buy ratio is 49.4%, and today's 24-hour ratio of 46.2% is 3.1 percentage points below that average. Volume is also subdued, trading at 0.61 times the weekly average. Over the past eight days, the coin has declined by 6.8%, with a total Volume Delta of -$25,141,770. This indicates that today is an unusual day for sustained buying, as the broader weekly trend remains dominated by net outflows.
