Solana faces Pump.fun selling pressure amid whale STONK accumulation
Ambcrypto.com reports that Solana encountered supply pressure as Pump.fun extended multimillion SOL sales across centralized exchanges. Lookonchain data shows 77,705 SOL sold for $7.88 million, bringing Pump.fun’s cumulative sales to 5.19 million SOL worth $842 million. Despite this distribution, CoinGlass data indicates Solana spot netflow was -$2.57 million, meaning outflows exceeded inflows and reduced immediate supply pressure.
Whales also shifted exposure by swapping SOL for STONK, with one large holder spending 11,487 SOL for 4.97 million STONK. Another wallet withdrew 22,686 SOL from Binance and spent 17,106 SOL to acquire 5.41 million STONK. These combined transactions deployed approximately 28,593 SOL into STONK.
Solana traded around $101.59 after stalling near $107.13 resistance. The price consolidated above $98.27 support while the RSI cooled to 56.91. Technical indicators showed weakening strength, with the MACD line at 3.90 falling below its signal line.
The MACD histogram slipped into negative territory at -1.16, reinforcing reduced buying momentum. However, the RSI remained above 50, keeping the broader August structure resilient. Binance Liquidation Heatmap data shows dense clusters between $103 and $105, offering potential liquidity targets for recovery.
How the market reacted
Whalio's own Binance spot order flow for SOL, measured when this story was written up on 13 September 2026. Not the outlet's figures.
Whalio data shows SOL trading at $101.76 with a 1-hour buy ratio of 51.6% and a 4-hour buy ratio of 53.4%. These short-term ratios are higher than the 24-hour buy ratio of 51.2%, indicating that buying pressure is building in the immediate term. The volume delta reflects this shift, with positive values of $114,397 over 1 hour and $1,332,487 over 4 hours. Over the full 24 hours, the volume delta reached +$2,793,724, with a cumulative volume delta (CVD) of +$3,955,444 at close. This means buyers are currently outspending sellers, contributing to a net positive flow. Spot volume for the period was $111,905,312 across 352,365 trades. Net buying occurred for 13 out of the 24 hours, suggesting sustained but not dominant buyer control.
The latest daily buy ratio of 48.8% sits at the 27th percentile of the last 322 days, against a median of 50.0% - weaker buying than most days.
Was that an ordinary day?
The same Binance spot measurements for SOL, averaged over the days leading up to the story.
Over the preceding week, the average buy ratio was 49.4%, making today’s 24-hour ratio of 51.2% an unusually high day for buying activity. The 24-hour volume of $111,905,312 represents 0.48 times the weekly average, indicating significantly lower trading activity compared to the norm. While buying intensity is up by 1.8 points relative to the weekly average, the total volume is less than half of what is typical. This suggests a day of higher conviction buying but lower overall participation. The coin saw a price change of -1.4% over eight days, with a total volume delta of -$9,780,436 for the period.
