XRP Analyst Suggests Token Could Overtake Bitcoin

XRP (XRP) Editor: Eugene Serbin

Benzinga.com reports that analyst Rob Cunningham believes XRP could surpass Bitcoin in market value if capital flowing through the XRP Ledger converts into holding the token itself. Cunningham outlined a thought experiment where $10 trillion entering the ledger supports a multi-trillion-dollar valuation, provided the funds actually acquire and hold XRP rather than just passing through. He highlighted a historical multiplier of over 600x, where a $66 million inflow once drove a $45 billion increase in XRP's valuation.

This view builds on comments from Ripple CTO Emeritus David Schwartz, who stated on September 13 that XRP could overtake Bitcoin if it grows faster than Bitcoin in a broader market expansion. Schwartz emphasized that the XRP Ledger's speed and functionality provide an edge for capturing disproportionate growth. The bull case cited by 21Shares includes regulatory clarity from the SEC case ending in August 2025 and seven US spot XRP ETFs that raised $1.3 billion in their first month.

Network activity saw nearly $500 billion move on-chain over 12 months, while the supply remains capped at 100 billion tokens. Cunningham noted that Bitcoin's market value is currently roughly 17 times larger than XRP's, but added, "Life happens fast." He clarified that this is a thought exercise rather than a definitive prediction. The scenario requires substantial capital to stay in XRP, as institutions might use the ledger for settlement while holding the token only briefly.
