XRP and Algorand debate quantum-proofing as Whalio tracks XRP flow

XRP (XRP) Editor: Eugene Serbin

DailyCoin reports that Algorand deployed native Falcon-1024 accounts in August, marking a deployment lead over the XRP Ledger. XRPL validator Vet noted that Algorand is not fully quantum-ready because much of the network still relies on Ed25519 signatures. Algorand’s early metrics show approximately 1,800 quantum-resilient accounts and over 1.2 million transactions since the v5.0.0 upgrade.

However, these accounts sit alongside classic ones, and spending routines cost three minimum fees compared to one. The Algorand foundation’s roadmap targets broader resilience, including post-quantum VRFs, for 2027. Meanwhile, Ripple is paying Project Eleven to audit validators, custody, networking, and wallets, not just account signatures.

Ripple’s path includes hybrid testing around 2027 and a full-readiness target of 2028. XRP’s RegularKey feature allows users to rotate signing keys without abandoning their address, which Vet highlighted as a practical advantage. AlphaNet has been running ML-DSA, but mainnet production has not yet shifted to post-quantum consensus. DailyCoin concludes that until consensus itself is post-quantum, both ledgers remain mid-upgrade.
