Coinbase XRP Reserves Relabeled After 5.5B Alert

XRP (XRP) Editor: Eugene Serbin

DailyCoin reported that Coinbase’s position on the XRP rich list shifted after a massive 5.5 billion XRP acquisition was flagged on Tuesday. Blockchain data platforms initially suggested the American exchange acquired the tokens in under one hour. However, the surge resulted from identifying and labeling 146 previously unknown wallets as Coinbase-owned rather than a direct transfer.

Following this update, Coinbase ranks as the third-largest XRP holder on the XRPScan rich list. An automated alert from @xrp_rich_bot had incorrectly shown a shift from an unknown wallet to Coinbase, displaying a +4,870.7% increase in an hourly update. The correction clarified that Coinbase did not gain 5.5 billion XRP but simply had existing holdings re-identified.

Coinbase now holds 355 XRP-filled accounts on the XRP Ledger, representing more than 5.80% of the available supply. This places them behind UPip, which holds 6.42% across 13 wallets, and ahead of Binance, which holds 2.73% across 149 wallets. Ripple Labs remains the dominant holder with 39.99% of the supply across 31 accounts. While this disclosure adds transparency, it does not imply an immediate impact on XRP’s price.
