XRP Futures Hit Six-Month High as Binance Leads $37B Volume

XRP (XRP) Editor: Eugene Serbin

Cryptopotato.com reports that XRP futures volume surged to its highest level in six months during August, driven by renewed liquidity and interest in derivatives. Data from CryptoQuant shows Binance dominated the market with approximately $37 billion in volume, while Bybit and OKX recorded $14.54 billion and $12.88 billion respectively. These three exchanges collectively processed over $64.6 billion in XRP futures trades, marking a significant increase from previous lower activity levels.

The surge coincided with XRP’s price climbing nearly 30%, rising from $1.06 at the start of the month to a high of $1.50 on August 24 before settling at $1.35. Spot trading also reached its highest level since February, with Binance accounting for $7.28 billion and Upbit contributing $4.68 billion. Other exchanges like Bithumb Korea, Bybit, Gate.io, and KuCoin also posted substantial volumes, while Bitget and Coinbase each saw just under $1 billion in trades.

Despite the volume spike, analyst ChartNerd noted that XRP has remained below its 50-week WEMA for three consecutive weeks. The weekly Stoch RSI is currently overbought, with the 20-week WEMA at $1.29 serving as the key support level. A break below this 50-week line could trigger a deeper correction. On the institutional front, XRP ETFs maintained an eight-week inflow streak but saw a sharp slowdown, attracting nearly $19 million in the latest period compared to over $110 million the prior week.

Whalio’s Binance spot data for XRP shows a price of $1.42 with a 1-hour buy ratio of 55.2% and a 4-hour ratio of 53.9%, indicating short-term buying pressure. However, the 24-hour buy ratio has dropped to 48.2%, suggesting that this buying momentum is fading over a longer timeframe. The 1-hour volume delta is positive at $561,971, while the 4-hour delta is stronger at $1,866,760, but the 24-hour delta is negative at -$3,526,400. This divergence means that while recent trades show more buyers than sellers, the cumulative flow over the last day reflects net selling. The Cumulative Volume Delta (CVD) for the 24-hour close is +$3,357,450, indicating that despite the negative delta, the total volume of buys has historically exceeded sells in this specific calculation window. Spot volume for the period was $100,308,137 across 475,044 trades.

The latest daily buy ratio of 50.6% sits at the 83rd percentile of the last 322 days, against a median of 48.5% - stronger buying than most days.
