Bitcoin Rejected at $80K as XRP Plunges on Rally Cool-Off

XRP (XRP) Editor: Eugene Serbin

Cryptopotato.com reports that Bitcoin's rally, which began last Wednesday below $65,000, surged to an eight-month high of over $81,000 on Tuesday before cooling off. The asset gained more than $15,000 in less than 48 hours, reaching a three-month peak after briefly hitting $70,000 and then almost $80,000 earlier in the week. Since that local peak, Bitcoin has dropped by roughly $3,000 to sit below $80,000, though it remains up over 22% on a weekly scale.

Ethereum failed to hold $2,500 and is now trading at $2,450 after a 1.3% daily decline. BNB has fallen back below $700, while Solana touched $100 yesterday but is now well below that level. Ripple’s XRP was rejected at $1.50 and is now trading at $1.42 after a 4.5% daily decline.

Other altcoins saw painful declines, with DOGE, ADA, and XLM all dropping 5%, and CC falling 6%. ZEC dropped the most among larger-cap alts, falling over 7% to trade under $790 despite the debut of Grayscale’s ETF. In contrast, RAIN skyrocketed by more than 20% to trade above $0.0175. The total crypto market cap declined by around $60 billion in a day to $2.740 trillion.

XRP is currently trading at $1.42, with a 1-hour buy ratio of 51.1% and a 4-hour buy ratio of 48.4%. These short-term readings contrast with the 24-hour buy ratio of 51.9%, suggesting that buying pressure is slightly fading in the immediate term compared to the daily average. The 1-hour volume delta is positive at +$462,673, indicating net buying over the last hour, while the 4-hour delta is negative at -$553,241, showing net selling over the longer short-term window. The 24-hour volume delta stands at +$8,976,592, and the cumulative volume delta (CVD) closed at +$134,926. This means that over the full day, buyers have been more aggressive than sellers, despite the price drop. The market recorded 1,648,472 trades with a spot volume of $238,596,035 in the last 24 hours.

The latest daily buy ratio of 50.6% sits at the 83rd percentile of the last 322 days, against a median of 48.5% - stronger buying than most days.

Over the preceding week, XRP experienced a 28.7% price increase, yet there were zero days of net buying across the seven-day period. The 7-day average buy ratio was 48.9%, meaning the current 24-hour ratio of 51.9% is 3.0 points higher than the weekly average. However, the 24-hour spot volume of $238,596,035 is only 0.51 times the average daily volume, indicating significantly lower participation. The total volume delta for the 8-day period was -$61,148,055, showing that despite the price rally, sellers dominated the volume over the week. This suggests the recent price action occurred on relatively thin volume compared to the coin's typical trading activity.
