XRP Whales Withdraw $335M as $2 Target Returns

XRP (XRP) Editor: Eugene Serbin

Cryptopotato.com reports that XRP briefly surged past $1.7 before stabilizing near $1.4, following a massive rally. Whale withdrawals from Binance have surged to their highest level in six months, with CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost noting that more than 231 million XRP moved off exchanges. These withdrawals totaled over $335 million in a single day, far exceeding the 90-day average of roughly $40 million.

Darkfost described this outflow as sudden and powerful, marking a significant change in behavior among large holders. This activity coincides with a $25 billion increase in market capitalization over the past week, during which the token gained more than 40%. If the accumulation trend continues, Darkfost said the asset could potentially test the $2 level within a relatively short period.

Network activity also jumped significantly, with active addresses rising to 356,070 from 47,180, a surge of over 654% flagged by Ali Martinez. This increased participation typically suggests sharper price swings and higher engagement. Despite the strong performance, the derivatives market showed short-term pressure after the token cleared liquidity around resistance.

Long liquidations recorded approximately $4.66 million, a 31.82% daily increase, while short liquidations stood near $1.13 million after rising 61.61%. The total volume of long liquidations was nearly four times larger than shorts, indicating that leveraged long positions were forced out by the sell-off. This clearing of leveraged positions could eventually provide room for a healthier rebound, according to CryptoQuant. Meanwhile, XRP’s Money Flow Index fell to 35.89 from around 60, showing weakened buying pressure but remaining above the 20 oversold threshold.

XRP is trading at $1.42 with a 1-hour buy ratio of 51.1%, indicating immediate buying pressure outweighing selling. However, the 4-hour buy ratio sits lower at 48.4%, suggesting that this buying strength is fading over a slightly longer timeframe. The 24-hour buy ratio is 51.9%, showing that over the full day, buyers have slightly outpaced sellers. Volume delta data reflects this mixed sentiment, with a positive $462,673 in the last hour contrasting against a negative -$553,241 over four hours. Over 24 hours, the volume delta is strongly positive at +$8,976,592, indicating net buying pressure has accumulated significantly by the day's close. The Cumulative Volume Delta closed at +$134,926, confirming that aggressive buying has dominated the session's net flow despite intraday volatility.

The latest daily buy ratio of 50.6% sits at the 83rd percentile of the last 322 days, against a median of 48.5% - stronger buying than most days.

Compared to the preceding week, today’s 24-hour buy ratio of 51.9% is 3.0 percentage points higher than the 7-day average of 48.9%. This indicates that today’s buying intensity is notably stronger than the recent norm, where net buying days were absent for the entire week. Spot volume today is $238,596,035, which is 0.51 times the weekly average, meaning trading activity is roughly half of what is typical. While price rose 28.7% over eight days, the total volume delta for that period was -$61,148,055, showing that the rally occurred despite net outflows. This suggests that today’s positive flow is an unusual reversal from the previous week’s pattern of net selling during the price surge.
