EEZ executes first atomic L1 to L2 transaction on Ethereum mainnet
news.bitcoin.com reports that Eduardo Antuña Díez, a core contributor to the Ethereum Economic Zone (EEZ) initiative, demonstrated the first atomic Layer 1 to Layer 2 transaction on Ethereum’s mainnet. The developer announced on X that atomic synchronous composability is no longer just a promise, highlighting a technical demo where 0.001 ETH was moved and a rollup updated in a single all-or-nothing operation. This achievement, backed by the Ethereum Foundation and led by groups including Gnosis and Zisk, aims to connect Ethereum’s fragmented offshoot networks into a shared ecosystem.
The transfer occurred after an audit, live blob encoding, and tests against Cow Swap and Uniswap v4. Jakub Gregus, co-founder of Hydration, described the milestone as one of the most important in crypto, noting it could help ETH directly. While the event marks a start for EEZ, full two-way calls and nested cross-chain calls remain on the roadmap through 2027.
The publicly available core software is still characterized as early-stage. The initiative launched in early 2026 to reduce fragmentation between the main chain and its growing collection of L2 networks.
How the market reacted
Whalio's own Binance spot order flow for ETH, measured when this story was written up on 7 October 2026. Not the outlet's figures.

Was that an ordinary day?
The same Binance spot measurements for ETH, averaged over the days leading up to the story.
The current 24-hour buy ratio of 39.2% is 12.0 percentage points lower than the 7-day average of 51.2%, marking a significant drop in buying sentiment. Volume over the last day was 0.94x the weekly average, indicating slightly lower activity than usual. This follows a week where net buying occurred on 4 of 7 days, with a total 8-day Volume Delta of -$155,989,089. The price changed by +0.7% over the preceding 8 days. This day appears unusual due to the sharp decline in the buy ratio compared to the weekly baseline.
