Circle Acquires Tazapay to Boost USDC Stablecoin Payments
bitcoinethereumnews.com reports that Circle has tapped $15 billion in stablecoin flows by adding Tazapay to its payments network. This move follows Circle's acquisition of IBM’s blockchain patent portfolio just two months prior. The deal grants Circle control over local payment infrastructure across more than 100 markets.
It also adds over sixty banking and fintech partners to help Circle move funds between USD Coin and local currencies. Tazapay already supports more than 35 currencies with same-day bank settlements. This allows Circle to utilize established rails across Asia and Latin America.
Jeremy Allaire, co-founder, CEO, and chairman at Circle, stated that stablecoin settlement is becoming core infrastructure in the global economy. Tazapay’s annualized volume now exceeds $25 billion, up from more than $10 billion in August 2025. Approximately $15 billion of this flow uses stablecoins, providing Circle with substantial digital-dollar activity.
Circle’s own payments network reached $23 billion in annualized transaction volume by July. The number of enrolled financial institutions increased by 29% in three months to 175. The deal is expected to close in 2027.
