Matrixdock Launches Tokenized Gold XAUm on Circle's Arc Blockchain
manilatimes.net reports that Matrixdock, the real-world asset technology arm of BIT Group, has launched Matrixdock Gold (XAUm) on Arc, Circle's EVM-compatible Layer-1 blockchain. This launch introduces Arc's first tokenized gold asset, with each XAUm token representing one troy ounce of 99.99% purity gold sourced from LBMA Good Delivery refineries. The gold is held in allocated form at professional vaulting facilities operated by Brink's and Malca-Amit in Hong Kong SAR and Singapore.
Eligible redemptions now allow for same-day access to USDC proceeds, a shift from the conventional T+2 London settlement cycle for unallocated metal. XAUm/USDC liquidity is available through Uniswap, supporting onchain exchange and expanding the asset's utility for trading, lending, and collateral. Eva Meng, Head of Matrixdock, stated that on Arc, gold sits alongside dollar liquidity on the same network and settlement layer.
Nikhil Chandhok, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Circle, noted that the launch brings greater onchain utility and broader reach to tokenized gold. Matrixdock also issues Matrixdock Silver (XAGm) and STBT, aiming to build a Reserve Layer for onchain finance.
