MoneyGram launches stablecoin Visa card supporting USDC
lookonchain.com reports that payment giant MoneyGram is launching a stablecoin-backed Visa card to allow customers to make purchases at merchants accepting Visa. The card will first roll out in Colombia, with plans to expand to other markets in the coming months. Users can register via the MoneyGram app, add the digital card to their mobile wallet, and use it for online or in-store transactions.
They can also send money to themselves and withdraw cash in local currency at MoneyGram locations. Initially, the card will support Circle’s USDC, followed by MoneyGram’s own stablecoin MGUSD. MoneyGram says a physical version of the card, which will also support ATM withdrawals, is scheduled to launch later this year. The card is developed in collaboration with stablecoin payment firm Rain, wallet provider Crossmint, and the Stellar blockchain.
How the market reacted
Whalio's own Binance spot order flow for USDC, measured when this story was written up on 11 September 2026. Not the outlet's figures.
USDC is trading at $1.00 with a 24-hour buy ratio of 48.6%, indicating a near-even split between buyers and sellers. However, the 1-hour buy ratio has dipped to 49.9% while the 4-hour ratio sits lower at 44.4%, suggesting that short-term buying pressure is fading relative to the daily average. The 24-hour volume delta is -$96,172,147, meaning that sell volume has significantly outweighed buy volume over the last day. In contrast, the 1-hour volume delta is -$85,513, showing that this heavy selling pressure is not yet fully reflected in the immediate minute-by-minute data. The spot volume for the period is $3,331,396,240 across 577,959 trades.
The latest daily buy ratio of 50.2% sits at the 73rd percentile of the last 322 days, against a median of 48.4% - stronger buying than most days.
Was that an ordinary day?
The same Binance spot measurements for USDC, averaged over the days leading up to the story.
Over the preceding week, the buy ratio averaged 49.7%, which is only 1.2 percentage points lower than the current 24-hour reading. This indicates that today's trading activity is largely consistent with the recent weekly average rather than being an unusual outlier. Volume has been 1.14x the average, suggesting slightly higher than normal activity levels. The total volume delta for the week was -$202,459,625, with net buying occurring on only 3 of the 7 days. This places today's negative delta within the broader context of a week characterized by net selling pressure.
