Nium Launches USDC Funding for Corporate Payouts
pymnts.com reports that cross-border payments firm Nium has introduced a stablecoin-focused funding program. The new USDC funding option allows businesses to finance their Nium accounts using the USDC stablecoin. These funds are then converted into U.S. dollars and made available for fiat payouts through Nium’s existing infrastructure.
This development extends the company’s payout network to businesses that already hold stablecoin balances. The initiative aims to solve the issue of capital sitting idle in prefunded nostro accounts or unused stablecoin holdings. Kuberan Marimuthu, vice president of digital assets at Nium, stated that the offering puts idle money to work on trusted infrastructure.
He noted that the solution addresses both trapped capital and stablecoin balances simultaneously. The launch expands on Nium’s digital asset strategy, following a March announcement regarding stablecoin-backed card issuance. Founder and CEO Prajit Nanu previously highlighted stablecoins as a treasury layer for moving money instantly among entities. The service is now available to eligible corporate clients without requiring new integrations for existing customers.
How the market reacted
Whalio's own Binance spot order flow for USDC, measured when this story was written up on 31 August 2026. Not the outlet's figures.
USDC is trading at $1.00 with a 24-hour buy ratio of 46.2%, indicating that buyers are slightly less active than sellers over the full day. The 1-hour buy ratio stands at 43.8%, showing that selling pressure has intensified in the most recent hour compared to the daily average. Volume Delta reflects this imbalance, with a 24-hour net outflow of -$87,103,302. In the last hour, the Volume Delta is -$21,875,737, confirming that net selling is accelerating in the short term. A buy ratio below 50% means that sell volume exceeds buy volume, while a negative Volume Delta indicates that more capital is leaving the spot market than entering it. Despite a 24-hour spot volume of $1,142,498,375, the net flow remains negative as buyers have been outpaced by sellers.
The latest daily buy ratio of 50.2% sits at the 73rd percentile of the last 322 days, against a median of 48.4% - stronger buying than most days.

Was that an ordinary day?
The same Binance spot measurements for USDC, averaged over the days leading up to the story.
The current 24-hour buy ratio of 46.2% is lower than the 7-day average of 49.0%, representing a 2.8 percentage point decline. This suggests that buying pressure is weaker today than it has been over the preceding week. Volume activity is also subdued, with today’s volume at 0.39x the weekly average. Over the past eight days, there have been zero days of net buying, and the total Volume Delta is -$478,959,305. The price has remained flat at +0.0% over the eight-day period, indicating a lack of directional momentum. This day is unusual in its lack of net buying days compared to the weekly norm, where even a 49.0% average suggests a near-even split.
