ARKVX Tokenized Fund Shares Launch on Ethereum via Securitize
cvj.ai reports that ARK Invest and Securitize have launched a tokenized version of the $1.3 billion ARK Venture Fund (ARKVX) on Ethereum. Eligible investors can now access onchain shares of the fund, which holds stakes in private companies like OpenAI, Anthropic, Stripe, and Databricks. Securitize handles the issuance, but the tokenization applies only to the fund shares, not the underlying private assets.
The fund remains an actively managed, closed-end interval fund with a target allocation of roughly 80% private and 20% public companies. ARKVX launched on September 23, 2022, with a net asset value near $20, rising to around $60.50 by September 23, 2026. Annual returns have varied, including 61% in 2023 and 56% in 2025, with the second quarter of 2026 seeing a 20.21% return.
Cathie Wood stated, “Tokenizing the ARK Venture Fund puts our conviction in the evolution, if not revolution, of capital markets into practice.” The structure retains quarterly repurchase windows for approximately 5% of shares and a net expense ratio of about 2.90%. This move leverages ARK Invest’s October 2025 investment in Securitize to create a new settlement layer for fund shares. The underlying portfolio assets remain offchain, meaning the tokenization changes the rails but not the fund economics.
