Binance Halts ETH Deposits and Delists Three Altcoins

Ethereum (ETH) Editor: Eugene Serbin

Cryptopotato.com reports that Binance is suspending Ethereum network deposits and withdrawals on August 27 for approximately one hour to support wallet maintenance. The exchange assured users that trading would continue unaffected while it handles technical requirements for the brief pause. This maintenance follows similar routine operations on the Ethereum blockchain in May and on the TRX network earlier this year, with no reported issues.

Additionally, Binance announced the delisting of ICON (ICX), Secret (SCRT), and Storj (STORJ), with spot trading pairs removing on September 3. The decision resulted from a review of criteria including team commitment, network stability, community engagement, trading volume, and liquidity. Since the announcement, affected coins have seen declines, with SCRT dropping 25% in 24 hours.

Binance cited shrinking liquidity and reputational damage as consequences of withdrawing support. Previous delistings in August and June also triggered double-digit price drops for tokens like PIVX and PYR.
