Ethereum ETF inflows challenge Bitcoin dominance in September

Ethereum (ETH) Editor: Eugene Serbin

Cryptobriefing.com reports that Ethereum ETFs are outpacing Bitcoin in net capital inflows for September, driven by staking appeal and institutional rotation. While Bitcoin ETFs recorded a massive $731 million inflow on September 3, they subsequently lost approximately $463 million over four consecutive sessions from September 8 to 11. In contrast, Ethereum ETFs maintained steady momentum, logging $216 million in inflows on September 11 alone.

Through mid-September, Ethereum ETFs captured roughly $324 million in net inflows, edging past Bitcoin’s $307 million. The full-month picture shows Ethereum attracting around $445 million versus Bitcoin’s $467 million. BlackRock’s ETHA product posted standout days, including $148.8 million on September 11 and $80.5 million on September 14.

This momentum follows August’s breakout performance of $1.75 billion in net inflows for Ethereum ETFs. Cumulative net inflows for Ethereum ETFs now stand at roughly $13.5 billion since launch. The competitive landscape includes Fidelity and Grayscale contributing meaningful volume across both asset classes. Product differentiation, such as staking features, helps justify crypto allocations for conservative institutional investors.

Whalio’s Binance spot data for Ethereum shows a price of $2,515.75 with a 24-hour buy ratio of 51.5%, indicating a slight majority of buying pressure over the full day. However, shorter timeframes reveal fading momentum, with the 1-hour buy ratio dropping to 39.1% and the 4-hour ratio at 47.0%. The 24-hour volume delta is positive at $27,755,975, contrasting with negative deltas of -$6,018,881 (1h) and -$5,215,467 (4h). This suggests that while buying pressure built over the day, it has weakened in the most recent hours. The Cumulative Volume Delta (CVD) for the 24-hour close is -$50,984,071, indicating that sell volume has outweighed buy volume in total executed trades despite the positive delta figure. Net buying occurred in only 8 of the 24 hours, highlighting intermittent rather than sustained demand.

The latest daily buy ratio of 46.8% sits at the 16th percentile of the last 322 days, against a median of 49.5% - weaker buying than most days.
