Ethereum Holders Withdraw 1.4M ETH as Price Approaches $2,550

Ethereum (ETH) Editor: Eugene Serbin

bitcoinethereumnews.com reports that Ethereum holders have withdrawn 1.4 million coins from exchanges since early June. This outflow accelerated as the asset climbed toward multi-week highs, with balances dropping from 7.69 million on June 3 to 6.28 million by August 27. The decline of nearly 18% occurred even as ETH gained roughly 27% since August 16.

Another 275,000 coins left exchanges after August 19, pushing balances to a twelve-week low. In contrast, Bitcoin balances on exchanges rose by about 0.25% over the same period. CoinGecko data placed ETH at $2,523.03 at the time of writing, up 3.17% in 24 hours.

Trader Axel Bitblaze noted that a weekly close above $2,550 would validate a structure similar to last year’s setup. That prior pattern saw price rally toward $4,800 after consolidating near a major moving-average cluster. Market commentator Ignas argued that cheaper blockspace weakens the link between adoption and fee-driven demand. He suggested institutional staking and native issuance of real-world assets could better tie ETH demand to secured value.

Whalio spot data shows ETH trading at $2,510.94 with a 1-hour buy ratio of 54.0% and a 4-hour ratio of 51.2%. These short-term figures indicate stronger buying pressure compared to the 24-hour buy ratio of 48.6%. The 1-hour volume delta is positive at +$2,976,568, while the 4-hour delta is +$1,629,811. However, the 24-hour volume delta is negative at -$22,699,506, indicating net selling over the full day. A positive volume delta means buyers are paying the ask price, while a negative delta means sellers are hitting the bid. The 24-hour close CVD is -$21,548,085, confirming that selling pressure dominated the longer timeframe despite short-term buying.

The latest daily buy ratio of 46.8% sits at the 16th percentile of the last 322 days, against a median of 49.5% - weaker buying than most days.
