Glamsterdam Upgrade Targeted for Sepolia on Oct 6

Ethereum (ETH) Editor: Eugene Serbin

Unlock-bc.com reports that Ethereum developers have tentatively scheduled the Glamsterdam upgrade for activation on the Sepolia testnet at 13:53 UTC on October 6, 2026. This date corresponds to epoch 351232 and serves as a planning anchor rather than a confirmed commitment, pending the outcome of private testing. The team is currently focusing on Glamsterdam-Devnet-11, which is slated to launch on September 14, marking a shift from earlier plans that prioritized Devnet-10.

Developer Christine D. Kim confirmed that the timeline remains fluid, noting that the Sepolia date was set before private networks demonstrated fully stable results. The decision follows finality issues encountered during Devnet-9, which tested with approximately 1,000 validator nodes. Ethereum’s multi-client architecture requires that any upgrade functions correctly across all independent execution and consensus client combinations.

Major infrastructure providers like Lido and Optimism have requested at least one full day of network stability before any fork goes live. While a December mainnet launch is considered aspirational, no specific dates have been locked in for the Hoodi testnet or the mainnet itself. Client teams must verify cross-client interoperability and resolve outstanding fixes before Sepolia can proceed as planned. The roadmap’s flexibility allows developers to prioritize stability over the calendar, ensuring that the upgrade is robust before wider deployment.
