Harmony to shut mainnet and migrate ONE to Ethereum
Lookonchain.com reports that Harmony plans to shut down its mainnet and migrate its native ONE token to Ethereum due to threats from state-sponsored attackers and AI agents. Validators may cease operations starting at 7 AM Pacific Time on September 10, 2026. A snapshot will be taken at the network’s final block, and new ONE tokens will be airdropped to corresponding Ethereum wallet addresses without requiring an active claim.
Delegated staking and unclaimed rewards will be transferred to each governor’s treasury, but multisig wallets, liquidity pools, and on-chain applications cannot be migrated. Users are urged to exit all smart contracts by September 10, 2026. The project will pivot to the AI video secondary creation economy, opening prompts and materials for creators to produce secondary works.
Harmony is recruiting operators for video generation and content moderation, requiring them to stake tokens to qualify for rewards based on service uptime. The project will provide $1.372 million in one-time compensation to validators and delegates who shut down nodes on time and continue participating in governance. This compensation will be disbursed over four quarters. The total supply and issuance rate of ONE will remain unchanged, with future issuance allocated to the AI video project.
How the market reacted
Whalio's own Binance spot order flow for ETH, measured when this story was written up on 7 September 2026. Not the outlet's figures.
ETH is trading at $2,514.48 with a 1-hour buy ratio of 57.8%, indicating strong immediate buying pressure. This contrasts with the 4-hour buy ratio of 49.0% and the 24-hour ratio of 46.9%, suggesting that recent buying is outpacing the broader daily trend. The 1-hour volume delta is positive at +$5,054,277, while the 4-hour and 24-hour deltas are negative at -$2,246,811 and -$33,050,320 respectively. This means that while short-term buyers are currently aggressive, the net flow over the last day has been dominated by sellers. The CVD at the 24-hour close confirms this net outflow of -$33,050,320. Despite the daily negative delta, the current 1-hour momentum shows a shift toward accumulation.
The latest daily buy ratio of 46.8% sits at the 16th percentile of the last 322 days, against a median of 49.5% - weaker buying than most days.
Was that an ordinary day?
The same Binance spot measurements for ETH, averaged over the days leading up to the story.
Over the preceding week, the 7-day average buy ratio was 50.7%, making today's 1-hour reading of 57.8% an unusually high level of buying activity. The latest day's buy ratio was 3.8 points lower than the weekly average, indicating that the current hour's surge is a deviation from the recent norm. Volume over the last 24 hours was 0.78x the weekly average, showing that trading activity is currently subdued compared to the typical week. While the 8-day price change was +4.0%, the net volume delta for that period was +$49,708,113, contrasting with today's negative daily delta. This suggests that while the weekly trend has been positive, today's specific flow has been net negative despite the recent intraday spike.
