Ledger Denies Hacking After OneKey Reproduces Ethereum App Bug
Bitcoinethereumnews.com reports that Ledger has rejected claims it was hacked after OneKey reproduced a transaction-replacement vulnerability. OneKey founder Yishi Wang stated his team recreated the attack in a lab using Ethereum app version 1.22.1 to demonstrate the flaw. The bug is a race condition between display logic and the transaction buffer, allowing an attacker to overwrite details while a user reviews a legitimate transaction.
Ledger CTO Charles Guillemet argued that reproducing a bug in an outdated version does not constitute hacking the company. He noted the issue was fixed in Ethereum app 1.22.2, released on August 13, before OneKey’s post. Ledger’s security bulletin clarified that an attacker must first control communications between the device and host via malware or a hostile website.
Guillemet wrote that no user was hacked and there was no exploitation in the wild. The company added safeguards in app 1.22.2 on August 13 and addressed the underlying issue in Secure SDK version 26.6.1 on August 21. Ledger recommends version 1.22.3 or later, which also fixes a separate display vulnerability, and published its bulletin on August 27. Ledger Donjon emphasized that updateability is core to security, allowing the company to patch every device in the field.
How the market reacted
Whalio's own Binance spot order flow for ETH, measured when this story was written up on 28 August 2026. Not the outlet's figures.
ETH trades at $2,510.94 with a 1-hour buy ratio of 54.0% and a 4-hour ratio of 51.2%, indicating short-term buying pressure. This contrasts with the 24-hour buy ratio of 48.6%, suggesting that immediate buying momentum is fading over the longer term. The 1-hour volume delta is positive at $2,976,568, while the 4-hour delta is $1,629,811, showing recent net inflows. However, the 24-hour volume delta is negative at -$22,699,506, with a cumulative volume delta (CVD) of -$21,548,085 at close. This means that over the last day, sellers have dominated the market, outweighing the recent short-term buying activity. Net buying occurred for only 6 of the last 24 hours, highlighting a shift toward selling pressure.
The latest daily buy ratio of 46.8% sits at the 16th percentile of the last 322 days, against a median of 49.5% - weaker buying than most days.
