US Crypto ETFs Pull $3B as Ethereum and Altcoins Rally
cvj.ai reports that US crypto exchange-traded funds attracted over $3 billion this week, with demand spreading beyond Bitcoin into Ethereum and altcoin products. Bitcoin remained the dominant destination, but Ethereum and smaller assets saw significant inflows, signaling a broadening of investor interest. US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded approximately $2.25 billion in net inflows from Monday through Thursday, according to SoSoValue data.
The week began with a strong $999 million daily inflow on Monday, the largest single-day intake of 2026 and the biggest since the funds drew about $1.2 billion on Oct. 6, 2025. Bitfinex noted that this ETF demand has re-emerged alongside corporate treasury buying, creating simultaneous sources of spot demand for the first time this year. Ethereum has been the clearest beneficiary of the widening ETF bid, attracting $602.94 million from Monday through Thursday.
The demand arrived even as ETH’s price performance lagged several smaller cryptocurrencies during the broader market rebound. Flows into smaller crypto ETFs were modest compared with Bitcoin and Ethereum, but they broadened the week’s buying across the market.
How the market reacted
Whalio's own Binance spot order flow for ETH, measured when this story was written up on 25 September 2026. Not the outlet's figures.
ETH is trading at $2,688.05 with a 1-hour buy ratio of 54.2%, indicating short-term buying pressure is currently outpacing selling. However, the 4-hour buy ratio drops to 47.0%, suggesting that this buying momentum is fading over a slightly longer timeframe. The 24-hour buy ratio sits at 50.2%, showing a near-even split in trading activity over the full day. Volume delta data reveals mixed signals, with a positive $1,612,088 in the last hour contrasting with a negative -$12,663,325 over four hours. This indicates that while immediate trades are slightly bullish, the broader recent flow has been net selling. The 24-hour volume delta is positive at $2,961,433, but the cumulative volume delta for the day closed at -$6,329,280, reflecting a net outflow by the end of the session.
The latest daily buy ratio of 46.8% sits at the 16th percentile of the last 322 days, against a median of 49.5% - weaker buying than most days.
Was that an ordinary day?
The same Binance spot measurements for ETH, averaged over the days leading up to the story.
Over the preceding week, the average buy ratio was 50.3%, making today’s 24-hour ratio of 50.2% virtually identical to the recent norm. Trading volume today stands at 0.80x the weekly average, indicating a quieter day than usual. While the price rose 9.8% over eight days, today’s volume is notably lower than the weekly average. This suggests that while the broader trend has been positive, today’s specific activity is less intense than the average day in the past week. Only two of the last seven days saw net buying, highlighting that this recent rally has been intermittent rather than consistent.
